How to Naturally Rid Dark Skin Pigments of Scratches
Overview
When you scratch your skin or burst a pimple, you are likely to leave marks and discoloration due to scarring. As the scars heal, the skin pigments surrounding the scratches are increased, causing skin darkening. There are innumerable over-the-counter medications to treat skin discolorations due to minor scratches. However, most of these medications can cause side effects such as skin irritations and redness. You can naturally treat skin discolorations using a few natural ingredients such as turmeric and potato. Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin which has antioxidant and skin lightening properties. Potatoes contain catecholase a natural substance used in skin lightening and bleaching creams.
Step 1
Wash one potato under running water for a few minutes to eliminate any loose debris and dirt. Wipe dry with a tissue or clean towel.
Step 2
Slice the potato into small cubes and place it in a blender, including the skin. Add one tbsp. of turmeric powder and 1 tbsp. of milk. Puree the potato mixture until it turns into a paste. Transfer the mixture into a clean bowl, cover and set aside.
Step 3
Wash the affected skin areas with antimicrobial soap and warm water. Use a towel or tissue to pat your skin dry.
Step 4
Apply the mixture generously to the cleaned skin areas and massage for five minutes. Let dry for 30 minutes and wash off. If applied daily, you should see results in a month or two. Apply the mixture twice daily for faster results. Store any unused paste in the fridge for later use.
