How to Mix Benzoyl Peroxide & Aloe Vera for Acne
Overview
Benzoyl peroxide is an over-the-counter acne medication available in creams and gels. Although benzoyl peroxide is highly effective in treating acne, "Braun-Falco's Dermatology," notes that it is notorious for drying the skin. Mixing benzoyl peroxide with aloe vera allows the benzoyl peroxide to treat the acne and the aloe vera to moisturize the skin and counteract the drying effects of the benzoyl peroxide.
Step 1
Mix 1 tsp. aloe vera gel with 1 tsp. benzoyl peroxide cream to form a paste.
Step 2
Scoop up a small amount of the paste with a cotton swab.
Step 3
Apply the paste to your acne with the cotton swab.
Step 4
Discard the cotton swab after a single use. Use a new cotton swab for each acne spot. According to "Braun-Falco's Dermatology," reusing the cotton swab can spread bacteria and worsen your acne.
