Large, visible pores have a few different causes. According to DermaDoctor.org, some of the more common causes include aging and sun damage, poor exfoliation and general skin care and blackheads or acne. Large pores also can be the result of basic genetics, as people with oily skin tend to have larger pores than those with drier skin. While pores are a permanent part of your skin, you can reduce overall size with proper skin care. You can further minimize appearance with cosmetics and special skin treatments.

Step 1

Use a gentle exfoliating facial cleanser in the morning and in the evening. Rub the cleanser into your face using a circular motion. An exfoliating facial wash is important to reducing nose pore visibility since it removes dry skin that collects inside your pores and makes them expand.

Step 2

Dry your face with a clean towel and apply a lotion with alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). Lotions that contain AHA gently peel away addition dead skin cells and are available at most drug stores or supermarkets.

Step 3

Apply a water-based foundation on your nose to conceal your pores. The foundation will create an overall smoother texture on your nose. It's important to choose water-based foundations over oil-based foundations, as oil-based products may increase the size of your pores.

Step 4

Consider speaking with a dermatologist if you're especially bothered by the size of your pores. Stronger treatments are available and include laser skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion and chemical peels, according to Thomas Heggen at DermaNetwork.org.
