How to Make Homemade Face Masks for Oily Skin
People have been covering their faces with clay, mud and various plants and vegetables since ancient times, because of the belief that face masks contain healing properties that can be beneficial to the skin. According to Stephanie Tourles, author of "The Herbal Body Book," face masks help remove dead skin, toxins and excess oils that can clog the pores.
A homemade facial mask is left on the skin for about 20 minutes. You can adjust the type of ingredients you use for your face mask to match your skin type. Oily skin will benefit from ingredients that minimize large pores and tighten the skin.
Use your coffee grinder to grind the almonds until you have about 1 tsp. almond meal. Repeat the process with sunflower seeds and oatmeal until you have about 1 tsp. each.
Cut and blend a 1 inch piece of cucumber with a whole tomato in your blender until it is smooth. Use a Colander to strain the excess liquid from the mixture, and then place it in a mixing bowl with the ground meal.
Add 1/4 tsp. oil, such as almond, jojoba or apricot to the tomato, cucumber and meal mixture. Blend the ingredients together with a mixing spoon until it forms a smooth paste that you can spread on your face.
Vary your mask by using a simple mixture of 1 tbsp. milk mixed with 1 tsp. brewer's yeast. Mix the ingredients into a smooth paste before spreading it over your face.
Use 2 tsp. plain yogurt when you need a quick and easy mask treatment that requires no mixing.
