How to Get Rid of Spots & Blackheads


Spots and blackheads appear on the skin when your pores are clogged with oils, sebum, bacteria and other impurities. While many people try to pick their skin in order to get rid of blackheads, this can cause inflammation and exacerbate skin problems. In order to effectively remove spots and blackheads and prevent them from returning, it is important to clean out your pores, remove dead skin that could trap in oils and bacteria and tone the skin with vitamin C, which increases skin cell turnover.

Step 1

Flush out your pores by applying an olive oil mask. Spread 1 to 2 tbsp. of olive oil onto your skin and gently massage it in for at least three minutes. Let the oil rest on your skin for an additional five minutes. After the allotted time has passed, place a very hot washcloth over your skin, which will open the pores and let the oils and impurities flush out. When the washcloth cools, wipe off the oil with it. Repeat this step two times per day.

Step 2

Remove dead skin and blackheads with an oatmeal scrub. Combine 2 tbsp. of crushed, raw oats with 2 tbsp. of honey in a small bowl. Spread the oatmeal and honey mixture onto moistened skin and massage it in gently using circular finger movements. After two to three minutes, rinse off your skin well with warm water. Repeat this process up to three times per week.

Step 3

Increase skin cell turnover by applying lime juice to your skin, which is high in vitamin C. Fill a clean spray bottle with lime juice and spray your skin after it has been cleansed. You can either allow your skin to dry naturally, or leave the juice on for five minutes, then rinse it off. A lime juice toner can be applied to your skin up to three times per day.
