Overview

Acne can be painful and uncomfortable to deal with, and for many people it can also be embarrassing when exposed. Much of this has to do with the redness and swelling that accompanies acne and makes it so much more visible. Even if you struggle to get rid of acne completely, there are still a number of things you can do to reduce the redness. This will make your acne less visible and more tolerable, particularly when there's no way to cover it.

Step 1

Dip a cotton ball into lemon juice and dab the lemon juice onto your acne marks. The acid and vitamin C in the lemon juice will reduce the visibility of redness over time. Keep the juice on for 15 minutes, then wipe it off and rinse your skin with water. Do this daily for two weeks to eliminate redness in your acne.

Step 2

Crush one or two aspirin pills in a mortar and pestle until they are a powder. How many aspirin you need depends on how large an area you are treating.

Step 3

Mix the aspirin with a quarter-sized amount of facial cleanser--or two quarter-sized portions if using two pills. Add 2 to 4 drops of water to the lotion and mix the ingredients together.

Step 4

Scrub the acne for 30 seconds with half of this mixture, then rinse off your face and pat dry.

Step 5

Place the remaining half of the mixture onto the skin and let it sit for five minutes, then rinse.
