How to Get Rid of Redness From Acne Fast
Acne can be red, unsightly and persistent, but you can remove the redness and help reduce swelling quickly with items from around the house. In under an hour, you can help reduce the redness of acne and camouflage your blemishes.
Apply an ice cube to the pimple, suggests dermatologist Mary P. Lupo. Wrap an ice cube in a paper towel, then place it on the blemish for five minutes to reduce redness and swelling. Repeat as necessary throughout the day to help constrict the blood vessels around the pimple.
Coat the zit in an aspirin paste. Crush up two aspirin tablets and add a few drops of water to create a thick paste. Spread the paste over the blemish for ten minutes, then rinse the area clean with water. Aspirin reduces swelling and will prevent redness for several hours.
Get the red out with eyedrops, suggests Robin Heinz Bratslavsky of "DERMADoctor." Squeeze a few drops of red-reducing eyedrops on a cotton swab, then hold the swab on the pimple for two minutes. The redness will fade away in the same way eyedrops clear bloodshot eyes. As the eyedrops penetrate the skin, they will cause the blood vessels to temporarily constrict, making the pimple appear less red.
Apply a green concealer to blemishes to help disguise redness. The green in the concealer will offset the red color, making blemishes nearly invisible.
Place loose powder over the pimple to help prevent the concealer from wearing away. Loose powder will help blend the camouflaged area with your skin tone and will keep your makeup in place all night long.
