How to Get Rid of Pimples Without Chemicals
Treating acne effectively doesn't have to involve buying costly products full of harsh chemicals. You may already have an arsenal of pimple-fighting products in your kitchen. Not only are these home remedies inexpensive, they are all-natural. According to Medical News Today, acne results from sebum, the skin's natural oil, mixing with dead skin cells and clogging pores. You can give yourself a pore-opening facial by making your own exfoliating scrub, steam treatment, mask and toner.
Combine a handful of dry oatmeal with 1 tsp. of honey and add just enough warm water to make a paste. Wash your face with hot water and a mild soap to open your pores. Rinse your face with more hot water, then massage the oatmeal mixture onto your skin with your fingertips. According to Grannymed.com, oatmeal exfoliates the skin and absorbs excess oil. Honey, a natural moisturizer and antiseptic, helps with smoother application.
Boil a large pot of water to create a facial steam treatment. Remove the pot from the heat and set it on a hot pad or folded towel on the counter. Add a scoop of fresh green tea leaves. Make a tent over your head with the towel and steam your face for 10 minutes while the tea steeps.
Slice a tomato in half and dig out the pulp with your fingers or a spoon. Spread the pulp onto your face and relax for 15 minutes. The citric acid in the tomato will soften blackheads and draw them to the surface, making them easier to remove.
Rinse the tomato pulp off your face with warm water and gently pat your skin dry with a towel. Wrap tissue around the tips of your index fingers lightly squeeze the blackheads from your pores.
Strain the tea leaves out of the pot of water you boiled. When the tea cools, saturate a cotton ball with it and wipe it over your face as an astringent. Save the tea in a glass jar or bottle and store it in the refrigerator. You can continue to use it for several days to dry up excess facial oil and keep your pores clear.
Pour a little baking soda into your hand and add water to make a paste. Apply it to emerging pimples as a spot treatment. When it dries, rinse it off with cool water.
