How to Get Rid of Pimples With Home Products
Pimples arise in response to clogged pores where sebaceous oil and naturally occurring bacteria create an infection. Obstructed pores may occur due to external factors such as skin care products, pollution or external irritants. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics reports that 80 percent of personal care items contain harsh impurities non-conducive to healthy and pimple-free skin. By using natural products you can easily find around your home, you can reduce the appearance of pimples.
Cranberry Facial Cleanser
Collect 1 tbsp. of dried savory leaves, ½ cup of boiling water and ½ cup of fresh cranberries. Cranberries contain tannin and are naturally very acidic. This acts as a gentle astringent without the oil-stripping properties of chemicals such as alcohol, states the Prostatitis Foundation. Savory leaves also retain antiseptic qualities, which aid in the cleansing process and oil regulation for pimpled skin.
Steep the savory leaves in boiling water for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, then strain the liquid into a bowl.
Blend the cranberries into a uniform consistency and strain to separate the liquid into the same bowl.
Soak cotton balls or a similar face pad in the solution and apply across the face and neck, avoiding the eyes and other sensitive areas.
Rinse with warm water to remove any trace of the cleanser.
Chamomile and Mint Facial Toner
Gather 1/2 a cup of diced fresh mint, 2 tbsp. of dry crushed chamomile flowers and 3 1/2 cups of water. The Drug Information website states that chamomile calms inflammation and moisturizes the skin, while fresh mint acts as a gentle antiseptic.
Boil the mint, chamomile and water for about 8 minutes and remove the heat. Let the solution steep for at least five minutes but no longer than 20.
Strain the toner into a glass container, seal and refrigerate until cool.
Apply evenly to the face to ensure complete coverage. Let the tonic dry thoroughly. Do not rinse off.
Peppermint Pore Steaming
Bring 10 cups of water with five drops of peppermint oil to a boil. The Drug Information website reports the antimicrobial properties of peppermint oil is helpful in flushing away toxins deep within the pores.
Remove the pot from the heat and place on a surface that you can comfortably sit over.
Drape a towel or thick fabric over your head and the pot to completely trap the steam.
Steam your face for no longer than 10 minutes, allowing your pores to open fully and flush away contaminants.
Rinse your face with lukewarm water followed by cold water to close the pores.
