How to Get Rid of Pimples for Free
Pimples pop up all over your face. You want to get rid of them, but you do not want to spend a fortune doing so. While some skin-care products -- such as mild cleanser and topical treatment cream that contains benzoyl peroxide -- help clear up acne, you can also make changes to your daily life to help clear your skin, says the Mayo Clinic. By avoiding certain products and irritants, as well as treating your skin gently, you can help get rid of blemishes and keep new ones from forming.
Avoid grainy scrubs and alcohol-based astringents. These are too rough on your skin and can irritate and dry out your complexion, which may make acne worse, according to Acne Net. Skin that gets stripped of its oils overproduces more to compensate, and this may lead to more blemishes. Washing your skin twice a day with a mild cleanser will keep your skin clean without over drying it.
Do not used cosmetics, sunscreens or hair products that are oil-based, as these can clog your pores and lead to pimples, says the Mayo Clinic. Instead, look for products that promise to be non-comedogenic, so they will not clog your pores. Stop using hair products like oils or pomades, which can drip onto your skin and cause breakouts. Use water-based ones instead.
Restrain yourself from touching your face except when you are washing it or applying an acne cream or sunscreen. The dirt and oil that is present on your hands can make more pimples crop up if you touch your face frequently. Additionally, popping or squeezing your pimples may cause an infection, scarring or prevent your blemishes from healing as quickly as they could. Avoid this as well.
Take a bath or shower after you sweat profusely. Dirt and oil can get trapped in your clothes and on your skin, and this leads to breakouts. Wear loose-fitting clothing made of cotton, which lets your skin breathe, and change it after you shower.
Stay out of humid or tropical climates, if possible, and avoid saunas and unventilated kitchens. These can cause your skin to become overly moisturized, which may lead to more acne.
