How to Get Rid of Pimples Fast and Naturally
A pimple, sometimes known as a spot or whitehead, develops when the hair follicles in the skin become blocked, notes Medical News Today. These pores clog due to excessive amounts of sebum oil flooding the skin from the sebaceous glands. If a pore containing this mixture of oil, dirt and dead skin cells seals over, it will become inflamed and turn into a pimple. Medical professionals think that the cause of the sebaceous glands producing too much sebum oil is largely due to hormonal changes in the body. Luckily there are some natural remedies that can help reduce the appearance of pimples quickly.
Drench a gauze pad in milk and apply to the affected area. Leave the milk on for 10 minutes before rinsing off. Milk is high in alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs. These acids help to remove the layers of dead skin cells and cleanse deep into the pores to remove infection and reduce inflammation.
Dab a cotton ball in tea tree oil and apply to the pimples. Leave for several minutes and then rinse off. Do this three times a day. Tea tree oil has cooling and soothing effects helping to reduce redness. It also has antimicrobial qualities, which cleanse the skin of bacteria and infection.
Dip a cotton ball in some lemon juice and apply to the pimples. The acids present in the juice act as a natural antibacterial agent, which cleanses deep into the pores while the citric acid works as a natural bleach to fade the red inflammation.
Mix equal parts honey and powdered nutmeg. Apply to the pimples and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water. Honey contains antiseptic properties to cleanse the pores of bacteria and calm red inflammation. If also has enzymes that can help with tissue regeneration.
Cut a leaf of an aloe vera plant at the stem. Slit open the leaf, squeeze out the gel and apply to the pimples. Leave on for several minutes before rinsing off. Aloe has a soothing and cooling effect on inflamed acne lesions. It also has natural antibiotic properties to help the body heal the damage caused by the infection.
