How to Get Rid of Pimples by Pressure Points
Overview
Acupressure, a type of Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM, is the art of manipulating pressure points throughout the body to relieve physical and emotional symptoms of illness and unrest. According to the April 2007 issue of "Vitality" magazine, the stomach meridian, or organ, is related to acne and skin conditions. Applying pressure to points on your body that heal the stomach meridian---not necessarily points on your stomach, however---might help you get rid of pimples and hormonal imbalances that contribute to acne.
Step 1
Locate the St 2 points on your face that correspond with your stomach meridian to help clear your skin. Dr. Michael Reed Gach, director of Berkeley, Calif.'s Acupuncture Institute recommends using your index finger as a measuring tool. Place your finger horizontally under the bottom edge of each eye socket to find the St 2 points.
Step 2
Look in a mirror to ensure you're going to apply pressure to the correct point to get rid of pimples and other skin symptoms. The acupoints on your cheeks line up with the middle of your iris, the colored part of your eye. Pressing too far to the left or right may cause pain and possibly damage to your face, and will not resolve your acne.
Step 3
Press firmly on the St 2 points and hold the position for a full minute. Gach explains that you can safely manipulate these points three times daily to achieve clear skin.
