How to Get Rid of Open Pores on the Legs
The pores on your skin are the openings of hair follicles, oil glands and sweat glands. Open pores are due to overactive sebaceous glands (small oil-producing glands) that cause an enlargement of the pores. When open pores appear on the legs, it may cause embarrassment and leave you feeling as though you need to hide them from view. Fortunately, there are a number of home treatments that may effectively diminish this condition.
Dip a small cotton pad into an equal mixture of lime juice, cucumber juice and rosewater. Apply this fresh-smelling potion evenly along your legs where open pores are evident. Let the treatment sit on your legs for at least 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cold water.
Apply buttermilk mixed with a dash of salt to your legs. Allow this thick, smooth liquid treatment to penetrate the skin for about 15 minutes. Moisten a cloth in lukewarm water and remove.
Crack open two eggs and separate the egg white from the yokes. Dip a cotton pad into the egg white and apply over the open pores on your legs. Leave the egg whites on your skin for several minutes to allow absorption, then rinse.
Brush your legs with a soft, dry bath brush or a rough hand towel prior to bathing or taking a shower. Spend approximately five minutes vigorously brushing up your legs in circular motions.
Splash cold water on your legs to temporarily minimize open pores. Pat your skin until it's just about dry, then apply a moisturizer to help lock water in the surface cells.
