How to Get Rid of One Pimple
Acne occurs on the skin when oil builds up, clogging hair follicles and pores. The oil can trap bacteria on the skin, creating small infections that swell. These red, swollen areas are pimples. If you have one stubborn pimple that pops up, treat it as soon as possible for the quickest healing time. If you need the pimple removed immediately, consult a dermatologist, who can administer an injection to make the pimple disappear.
Wash your entire face twice a day with an over-the-counter face wash containing salicylic acid. The Mayo Clinic recommends salicylic acid as an effective active ingredient to dry up acne. If the pimple is on another part of your body, wash this area of your body twice a day with the body wash. Dry your face thoroughly with a clean, cotton towel.
Dab the afflicted area with an oil-free, noncomedogenic toner. A toner will neutralize the pH of your skin and dry up oil.
Apply an over-the-counter spot treatment containing benzoyl peroxide to the pimple before bed. A spot treatment contains a concentrated amount of benzoyl peroxide to help shrink the pimple and dry it overnight.
Wash your pillowcase once a week and keep additional oil and bacteria away from your face. Place your hair back in a ponytail if you have long hair, and avoid touching your face except to wash it or apply medication.
Consult a dermatologist if you must get rid of the pimple immediately. Dermatologist Mary P. Lupo suggests getting a cortisone injection from a dermatologist to get rid of the pimple in a hurry, particularly if you continue getting a pimple in the same spot over and over again. A cortisone injection will reduce swelling and redness within a few hours.
