How to Get Rid of Face Acne
While acne anywhere on your body can be irritating, acne on your face is visible for the world to see. Acne is the result of an over production of oils that lead to clogged pores. These pores become inflamed and infected as bacteria finds its way into excess sebum and leaves your complexion marred with raised red painful areas over your skin.
Keep your hands and hair off your face. Oils in the fingertips and hair can contribute to making acne worse. Keep your hair clipped back and resist the urge to touch your face with your fingers. If you have naturally oily hair, wash it regularly so that when it does make contact with your forehead and the rest of your face, it will not cause as much trouble.
Use tea tree oil on your face daily to help eliminate bacteria and reduce the redness associated with acne. Tea tree oil is just as effective as benzoyl peroxide but without the side effects. Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions for use carefully.
Wash your face twice every day. Be sure to wash your face before you go to bed each night to remove any makeup that may clog your pores while you sleep. Use a mild soap and warm water. Pat your skin dry gently with a soft clean dry towel. Vigorous rubbing with the towel can irritate your skin further.
Avoid too much time in the sun, because this can aggravate the condition. If you work outside or have to be out in the sunshine, use a water-based sunscreen to protect your skin. Oil-based products can clog your pores further and should be avoided. Look for the words "noncomedogenic" or "oil free" on the label.
Mash fresh orange peels and water into a paste. Apply to your face. Allow the paste to stay on your skin for 30 minutes. This will help reduce swelling. Peel the paste away gently with your fingers. Rinse your face with warm water. Do this as often as needed to keep swelling down.
