How to Get Rid of Dry Acne
According to the Mayo Clinic website, acne is most commonly caused by overproductive sebaceous glands producing too much oil, irregular shedding of dead skin cells or a buildup of bacteria under the surface of the skin. Acne can be irritating and bothersome, but luckily there are some natural treatments that can help to get rid of dry skin acne according to Ann Worwood, author of "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy," and Colleen Kaye Dodt, author of "The Essential Oils Book: Creating Personal Blends for Mind & Body."
Mix ½ tsp. each of Texas cedarwood, ylang ylang, cananga, juniper and spike lavender essential oil with ¼ tsp. each of rose and sandalwood essential oil into ¾ cup of avocado oil in a small, dark-colored bottle with a tight-fitting top.
Shake the mixture for 10 to 15 seconds to combine all of the essential oils and the avocado oil.
Pour a small amount of the mixture onto your clean fingertips. Gently massage the mixture onto your skin and leave it on for 20 minutes.
Wash your skin with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser. Pat your skin dry with a clean cotton towel and apply a light oil-free moisturizer to the area.
Use this treatment two times per day in the morning and evening. Discontinue use of the essential oil mixture if it causes swelling, redness or other irritation.
Keep unused portions of the essential oil mixture in a cool, dark place for 60 days or in the refrigerator for 90 days. Throw it away after the allotted time has passed.
