How to Get Rid of Blackheads the Natural Way How to Get Rid of Blackheads the Natural Way

Blackheads can appear anywhere on your face, and are caused by the pores becoming clogged by oils and impurities. Not all blackheads turn into acne pustules, and can remain in your skin for weeks or even months at a time. To effectively remove blackheads, and prevent them from returning, a few natural treatments can be applied to purge the impurities from your skin, remove the dead skin that can block the pores, and increase turnover on your skin to prevent more blackheads from returning.

Step 1

Purge your pores of blackheads by applying a non-pore clogging oil, such as castor oil. Castor oil is highly purgative, and can flush out oils, sebum, bacteria, and other impurities from your skin. Massage 1 tsp. of castor oil onto your face, moving your fingers in a circular motion. After three minutes, spread an additional teaspoon of castor oil onto your skin. Allow the oil to remain there for five more minutes, then place a steaming washcloth over the area to open up your pores. This will allow the oils and impurities to drain out of the skin. Once the washcloth cools down completely, use it to wipe away the oil. Repeat once per day to flush out your pores.

Step 2

Remove dead skin that can block your pores by applying a mildly abrasive facial scrub, such as baking soda. Pour 1 Tbsp. of baking soda into a bowl, and add 1 tsp. of water to it. Spread the mixture onto your skin, gently massaging it around for two minutes. Use small, circular finger movements. After the allotted time has passed, rinse off your skin with water. Repeat once per day to remove pore-blocking dead skin cells.

Step 3

Increase skin cell turnover by applying a compress high in vitamin C, such as lemon juice. Vitamin C helps support the development of new skin cells, while helping remove dead skin cells at the same time. Soak 5 cotton pads in lemon juice, and place them onto your skin. Place one on your chin, two on your forehead, and one on each cheek. After 15 minutes, remove the cotton pads to allow your skin to dry. Repeat once per day to prevent new blackheads from occurring.
