How to Get Rid of Blackheads Above the Lip How to Get Rid of Blackheads Above the Lip

Overview

Blackheads can appear anywhere on the skin and often occur above the lip, where the skin is constantly rubbed or wiped. If blackheads are not removed from the skin above the lip, it can cause the skin to appear dark and blotchy. In order to remove blackheads from above the lip, the skin must be cleansed properly, exfoliated with a gentle scrub and treated with an antibacterial facial oil. Once this regimen has been followed for a few weeks, the skin above the lip will become clear and blackhead-free.

Step 1

Wash the skin above your lip with a natural soap, which will be free of skin-irritating ingredients that are typically found in regular soaps. Wet the skin above your lip with water, then lather up your fingers with a natural soap. Apply the lather to the skin, spreading it over the area that contains the blackheads. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the skin, which can worsen the condition. Rinse the skin with warm water. Cleanse the skin above your lip twice per day.

Step 2

Exfoliate the skin above your lip with a gentle, yet effective, facial scrub, such as baking soda. Wet the skin above your lip. Pour 1/2 tsp. of baking soda into your palm and mix in 1/4 tsp. of water to turn it into a paste. Spread the paste onto your skin, massaging it gently for 1 to 2 minutes. Do not rub or scrub the skin with the baking soda, which could cause irritation. Rinse the skin using warm water. Using an exfoliant removes pore-clogging dead skin cells above the lip. Use a baking soda exfoliant once per day.

Step 3

Apply an antibacterial oil, such as tea tree oil, to the skin above your lip. Dip a cotton swab into tea tree oil, then dip it immediately and quickly into and out of water. This dilutes the tea tree oil so it can be applied to your skin without causing redness or irritation. Tea tree oil is an antibacterial oil that will help prevent blackheads and will kill off acne-causing bacteria inside the pores. Dab the diluted oil onto the skin above your lip up to three times per day.
