How to Get Rid of Acne Without Medications
Aside from the obvious discomfort factor, acne can be quite embarrassing for those afflicted with it. Leaving painful bumps and scars in its wake, acne is the result of pores becoming clogged and then inflamed. Though there are many products available that boast the ability to clear up acne, some acne sufferers prefer to save their hard-earned cash and opt for a more natural approach to the issue. Without doctor prescriptions and fancy creams, acne can be treated with a few simple home remedies.
Place a warm, damp cloth over your face and lie down for three to five minutes. The warmth will help to open up the pores, making it easier to clean out the bacteria that is causing the acne. Standing in a hot shower or holding your face over a pot of boiling water offers the same result.
Wash your face gently twice each day with an antibacterial soap to help eliminate bacteria. Rinse your face well and pat dry with a clean, dry towel. Don't wipe your face vigorously while drying as this will only irritate your skin.
Remove all makeup and make sure your face is clean before you go to bed each night. It helps to also change your bedding frequently. Change your sheets at least once a week and your pillowcase every couple of days. Oils and dirt that transfer onto your linens can transfer back onto your face at night while you sleep and make acne worse.
Mix uncooked oatmeal with water into a thick paste and apply it to your skin. Leave the paste on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes before gently wiping it away with a clean damp cloth. Do this twice a week to help clear up your complexion.
Apply fresh lemon juice to your skin each night before you go to bed with a cotton ball or clean cloth. Rinse your face with warm water in the morning.
