How to Get Rid of Acne Whiteheads
Overview
Acne whiteheads are characterized by the appearance of pink to red facial bumps with a white, pus-filled center. Whiteheads are often unsightly and embarrassing, and picking or popping them can be difficult to resist, which can lead to facial scarring and discoloration. Luckily, there are skin treatments that can diminish and eliminate acne breakouts, reducing the risk of skin damage. By following a skin-care regimen that properly cleanses the skin, flushes out the pores and kills off acne-causing bacteria, your face can return to its naturally clear state.
Step 1
Cleanse your skin using a natural, fragrance-free soap. Wet your skin well with water. Lather your hands with a natural, fragrance-free soap, which can be purchased at any health-food store or natural products online merchant. Spread the lather onto your face, using your fingers to gently rub it around. Rinse off your skin well with water. Repeat two times per day. Avoid scrubbing the skin aggressively, which can exacerbate acne irritation.
Step 2
Flush out the pores by applying an acne-fighting oil. Pour 2 tsp. of olive oil into your hand and add 2 drops of undiluted tea tree oil. Use your finger to mix the two oils together well. Spread the oils onto your skin, and use your fingers to massage the oils deeply into your pores for 1 to 2 minutes. Let the oils remain on your skin for an additional 2 minutes. Place a steaming hot washcloth onto your skin, which will force open the pores to let the oils and impurities drain out. After the cloth cools, use it to wipe off the oils. Repeat once per day.
Step 3
Spot treat the skin using a salicylic acid gel. Purchase a salicylic acid gel from a supermarket or drugstore. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of salicylic acid gel onto your finger, and gently smooth it onto your skin. Gently massage the salicylic acid gel into your skin until it has been completely absorbed. Repeat two times per day.
