How to Get Rid of Acne in Men
When it comes to advertisements for products that address problem acne, teenagers and women are often the focus of the ads. This may leave many men with acne problems curious about where to turn for an acne treatment that will work for them. Luckily, there are many tips for clearing up acne that work for male and female, old and young alike. Properly treating your acne can leave your face smooth and you confident in no time.
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser that is water-based (not oil-based), both morning and before going to bed. A harsh cleanser can dry out your skin or damage pores, causing more acne.
Moisturize your face using an over-the-counter moisturizer that contains either benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or both as active ingredients. This is a common ingredient and can be found in most drugstores. Follow directions as provided by the manufacturer.
Use a natural, homemade remedy using common household items to clear up acne. Rub a peeled clove of garlic onto the acne three times a day. Put lemon juice directly on to the problem acne to speed up healing. Grate a cucumber and allow it to sit on your face for 15 to 20 minutes. Before going to bed, wash your face and massage a mixture of 1 tsp. of mint juice or coriander juice with a pinch of turmeric onto your face.
For more stubborn acne, discuss the option of a prescription treatment with your doctor or dermatologist. There are a variety of prescription treatments, like antibiotics or topical creams. Sometimes doctors may prescribe a combination of treatments for quicker and more efficient results.
Prevent future breakouts by taking proper precautions. Do not wear tight-fitting clothing, including helmets, backpacks, straps and other sports equipment. Wash your body after any activity that causes sweating, which can increase acne.
