Acne blemishes can appear on the skin in many different forms such as papules, pustules, cysts and blackheads. Although there are many medicated acne creams and lotions on the market, these products can irritate the skin and can cause side effects, such as peeling or burning. Fortunately, the skin can be cleared by applying a few natural home remedies. By clearing the skin without using products, it will remain free of acne while still maintaining its soft and supple appearance.

Step 1

Wash your face with a natural soap or cleanser. A natural soap does not contain artificial perfumes, dyes or fillers that can irritate or inflame the skin. If too many oils are removed from the face, the skin will begin to overproduce oils in order to compensate, leading to clogged pores and acne breakouts. Using a natural soap will be gentle on the skin, and will leave the skin clean without stripping off the beneficial oils. Wet the skin thoroughly, and lather up your hands with a natural soap. Apply the lather to your face, gently spreading around the soap, then rinse it off with water. Wash in the morning and again at night.

Step 2

Keep pores clear by applying a natural baking soda facial scrub. Baking soda is a highly alkaline substance that is abrasive enough to remove dead skin cells and bacteria, yet mild enough to be used on the skin without causing any damage. Mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda with 1 tsp. of water, which will create a loose paste. Smooth the paste onto the skin, and gently rub it around using circular finger motions. After one to two minutes, rinse off the skin well with clean water. Exfoliate the skin in this manner up to two times per week.

Step 3

Spot treat active acne pustules using natural tea tree oil. Tea tree oil clears up acne breakouts as well as benzoyl peroxide creams, but without the unwanted side effects such as redness or peeling. In order to use tea tree oil, it must first be diluted. Dip a cotton swab into tea tree oil, then again into pure water. Dab the diluted tea tree oil onto active acne breakouts up to three times per week.
