Reduce the use of hot water and soap. The combination of hot water and soap can dry out your skin. Switch to a mild cleanser instead of strong soap. According to Dr. Kim, your skin will benefit from shorter baths and showers taken in warm water rather than hot water. Gently pat yourself dry after a shower or bath to retain some moisture on the skin.

Step 4

Go for a minimalist approach with makeup and make sure you remove all your makeup before going to bed at night. Don't overdo it with colognes, perfumes and other personal care items. According to Dr. Kim, the less "goop" you put on your skin, the better chance you have of achieving healthy beautiful skin.

Step 5

Protect your skin from the sun. According to the Mayo Clinic, a lifetime of sun exposure leads to premature wrinkles, age spots and dry, rough skin, as well as skin cancer. Try to avoid being in the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun's rays are the strongest. Wear protective clothes like wide-brimmed hats and long pants and sleeves. Use sunscreen. Apply it a half hour before going outside, and reapply every two hours after swimming or heavy sweating.

Step 6

If you are a smoker, quit. Smoking ages your skin and promotes wrinkles, particularly the lip lines that result from years of pursing your lips to hold a cigarette.
