Overview

Acne can appear anywhere on your skin, including the chest, neck, face and back. When the back area breaks out in pimples, it can be difficult to reach and treat them. This can be remedied by using a back-scratcher to apply cleansers, acne creams and moisturizers. Attaching a washcloth to the end of a back-scratcher allows you to reach and treat the places on your back that you cannot reach with your hands.

Step 1

Cleanse your back by applying a sensitive skin soap with a back-scratcher. Using a rubber band, attach a washcloth to the end of a back-scratcher. Moisten the washcloth thoroughly, and lather it well with a soap designed for sensitive skin types. A sensitive skin soap will clean the skin sufficiently without irritating or inflaming your skin. Lather the back area well, spreading the soap over the areas most effected by acne breakouts. Rinse with warm water.

Step 2

Apply a topical acne cream, using a cotton pad attached to the back-scratcher. Place one to two cotton pads onto the end of the back-scratcher, and tie them on with a rubber band. Squirt a quarter-sized amount of a lower-concentration benzoyl peroxide cream onto the cotton pads. Spread the cream around the pads with your finger so that it is evenly distributed, then apply the cream to your back. Gently spread the benzoyl peroxide cream around your back until it is absorbed.

Step 3

Apply a non-comedogenic oil to your back to keep your skin properly hydrated. Benzoyl peroxide cream can dry out your skin, even in the lowest strengths. This can be avoided by applying a small amount of non-pore-clogging oil, such as jojoba or olive oil. Place 1 tsp. of a non-comedogenic oil onto a cotton pad attached to the end of a back-scratcher, and lightly pat the pad on your back. Apply the oil to the entire back area.
