Overview

Blackheads happen to nearly everyone at some point in their lives. They form when your skin follicles open up larger than they normally are, which makes it much easier for dirt, oil, and bacteria to get into your skin. The bacteria and oils react inside your hair follicles, forming a blackhead and the darkish tint on your skin. Your nose is one of the most common areas for blackheads to form. The key to getting rid of your blackheads is using the right medication and taking care of your skin. Use caution when applying any herbal medicine to your skin, and discontinue should you experience any irritation.

Step 1

Rub aloe vera into your blackheads to eliminate them. Acner.org says aloe vera is full of enzymes that have anti-bacterial properties that can heal your blackheads. Buy aloe vera gel at your local pharmacy, or buy an aloe vera plant, break off a leaf, and squeeze the juice into your hand. If you buy gel, make sure it contains a high percentage of aloe vera. Many gels actually contain very little of the enzyme. Run the liquid or gel into the blackheads on your nose and let dry. Repeat every day.

Step 2

Go to your dermatologist to eliminate the blackheads on your nose. Your dermatologist will look at the blackheads on your nose and prescribe a medication that will kill the bacteria inside your blackhead. Retinoid is the ingredient that most doctors will make sure is in your medication. The most common medications your doctor will prescribe are Retin-A, Tazora, and Differin.

Step 3

Make an appointment with your esthetician to eliminate the blackheads on your nose. An esthetician can physically remove the blackheads safely. He will use a tool called an extractor, which looks like a pair of scissors but has loops on either end. The Daily Glow says to use the looped side of the extractor to apply pressure on the blackhead, which will remove the infected material in your blackhead. Make sure you visit a trained, licensed esthetician. Otherwise, the extractor can leave scars that will never fade.

Step 4

Steam your face. The heat from the steam will open up your pores, making it possible to remove all the bacteria built up inside your blackheads. Boil water in a pan and pour it into a bowl. Place your face close enough to the heat that you can feel it, but far enough away that the steam doesn't scald your face. Put a towel over your head so that you trap the steam around your face. Leave your face over the bowl for at least five minutes. Wash with a mild soap right away to remove all the dirt and oil that you just released from your blackheads.
