How to Cure the Redness From Acne
Acne is a skin condition that causes breakouts on the skin, usually on the face, back or chest. Acne can be blackheads, whiteheads or red pustules that protrude from the skin. When acne goes away, it can sometimes leave an unsightly red mark that lasts for months. Removing the redness from acne will make pimples appear less noticeable. To remove the redness from your acne, purchase a few acne remedies from the drugstore or grocery store, or use items from around the house.
Reduce the size and redness of the pimple with an ice cube. Ice will reduce swelling and cause the blood vessels to constrict, making the pimple look less red.
Apply aspirin to acne to reduce redness. Crush an aspirin tablet into a fine powder with a spoon, then add two drops of water to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to the acne for 10 minutes, then rinse the face with water.
Avoid picking, touching or squeezing the acne, which can cause inflammation. "Cosmopolitan" magazine notes that pimples can become redder and take longer to heal if they are inflamed.
Use a sterile cotton swab to apply red-reducing eye drops to the area. Red reducing eye drops, like Visine or Bausch & Lomb, constrict the blood vessels in the eyes, making eyes appear less red. When applying eye drops to the skin, the redness from acne will temporarily disappear.
Apply a thin layer of hydrocortisone cream to the pimple twice a day. Hydrocortisone cream reduces swelling and irritation, making blemishes appear less red.
Dab a small amount of green concealer on top of the pimple. Green concealer neutralizes red marks, making them less noticeable.
