How to Cure Chest Acne
When the body produces too much sebaceous oil, a natural oil that helps to lubricate both hair and skin, it can cause a problem for the pores. Too much of this oil mixes with dirt and dead skin cells, clogs pores, and turns into what is known as acne. Acne can occur anywhere on the body. Chest acne can be particularly irritating as it constantly has clothing rubbing over it. With a few changes to your day-to-day routine you can eliminate uncomfortable chest acne.
Shower at least once daily. Shower twice a day if you sweat a lot throughout the day, but do not shower more than that as this can dry the skin out. Wash your chest area with a mild cleanser and rinse well. Pat your skin dry as excessive rubbing can irritate the skin.
Apply a topical acne cream that contains benzoyl peroxide to your chest targeting the acne-affected areas. Opt for an acne product that has the lowest percentage of benzoyl peroxide first before moving onto something with a higher concentration to see how your skin will handle it. Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.
Wear loose fitting, airy clothing to allow air to circulate around your skin and keep it cool. Tight and dark clothing can lead to sweating and make acne worse.
Mix up raw oatmeal with water to create a thick paste. Apply the past to the acne-affected area and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Wipe away the paste with a clean damp cloth. This will help to reduce oiliness.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your system flushed of unhealthy toxins which may contribute to acne. Reduce your intake of chocolate and coffee; both can contribute to acne as they are excitants, according to Bowie State University.
