How to Cure Acne While Pregnant
Overview
Acne occurs in pregnancy due to the body’s surge of progesterone hormones. These hormone fluctuations cause the oil glands to produce excess sebum, which can become trapped in the pores. In addition, the body retains more water. Unfortunately, these fluids are full of toxins that can cause acne. Luckily, pimples can be safely treated even while pregnant.
Step 1
Cleanse the skin with a mild soap-free wash twice a day, in the morning and night. Concentrate on the jaw and hairline where pores typically get clogged.
Step 2
Avoid using abrasive scrubs or a washcloth. Skin is more sensitive during pregnancy so use your fingertips instead.
Step 3
Smooth on an acne medication containing benzoyl peroxide, which is safe for women to use while pregnant. Avoid topical medications containing salicylic acid.
Step 4
Use an oil-free moisturizer to control any skin irritation.
Step 5
Continue with this acne regimen, even after face clears up.
