How to Control Acne on the Body
If you are are prone to breakouts on the face, you are more likely to develop acne on other areas of the body. Pimples caused by body acne typically appear in areas of the skin that may be oily, like the back and the buttocks. Body acne can cause larger and more painful cysts, due to the increased size of the pores. A good skincare regimen can help control breakouts that may occur on the body.
Wash the skin immediately after sweating. The oil and dirt found in perspiration can clog the pores and lead to breakouts on the body.
Exfoliate the skin while bathing. Use an exfoliating sponge to remove dead skin cells gently and prep the skin for treatment.
Lather the skin with an acne fighting body cleanser. Choose a body cleanser that contains at least 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide. Leave the solution on the skin for several minutes before rinsing. Try to use the benzoyl peroxide on the body at least twice a day. As an alternative to the cleanser, a cream can be used instead.
Moisturize the skin. The benzoyl peroxide can cause your skin to feel dry and irritated. Apply an oil-free moisturizer to combat this issue. Wait for the skin to be completely dried before dressing since benzoyl peroxide can stain clothing.
Wear loose-fitting clothing. Breathable clothing pieces made of lightweight fabrics, like cotton, can control breakouts on the body.
