How to Clear Dark Spots on Children's Skin How to Clear Dark Spots on Children's Skin

Dark spots on children's skin can be embarrassing or a cause for insecurity. As a child ages, the spot may expand as the skin grows, so removing the spot while it is still small might save you trouble in the future. Dark spots can be removed at the dermatologist's office, but there can be substantial costs for laser treatments. Natural remedies for dark spots such as lemon juice, castor oil and crushed almonds are useful for removing the spots although they may take a few weeks to a few months for the spot to completely disappear.

Step 1

Apply castor oil to the dark spots. Daily applications of castor oil can help lighten and remove dark spots. The skin of the spot will start to scab and gradually peel off in layers. Continue using castor oil until the spot disappears completely, this could take up to a few months for the spot to disappear completely.

Step 2

Soak a handful of almonds overnight in water. In the morning, peel the skin off the almonds and grind the almonds into a paste using a food processor. Add a few drops of honey to the paste and apply the paste to the spot. You may want to place a bandage over the child's skin so they do not scratch or rub the paste off. Repeat this process daily until the spot has disappeared completely.

Step 3

Squeeze the juice of half a lemon and apply the juice directly to the dark spot. The acid in lemon juice lightens the skin but may not ever remove the dark spot completely. Lemon juice can be a mild irritant on children with sensitive skin so try a test patch before the first application.
