How to Clear Bad Acne
A variety of acne treatments work, but depending on your skin type and the kind of acne you have, some will work better for you than others. This means that you might have to try a few different methods before you find the best one. Because acne medications are sometimes harsh and irritating to sensitive skin, the Mayo Clinic recommends that you start with the mildest alternatives.
Clean Your Skin
Use a mild cleanser that doesn't contain artificial fragrance or color. Lather your face with the soap and warm water, using a soft wash cloth. Refrain from scrubbing, as this can irritate your skin and cause new breakouts. Rinse well, ensuring that you don't leave any soap residue on your skin.
Gently pat dry your face with a soft towel. Do not apply anything to it until it is completely dry.
Dab a small amount of benzoyl peroxide cream or gel on your blemishes. Rub it in gently.
Leave it alone. You may be inclined to cover it up with cosmetics, but they will clog your pores and keep the treatment from working. Additionally, the National Institutes of Health recommends that you avoid sunlight and sunlamps unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Continue doing this for a month or so. If you notice a considerable improvement in that time, this treatment might be your answer. If your acne hasn't improved much, try something stronger, such as a higher-strength solution of benzoyl peroxide or a treatment prescribed by a dermatologist.
