How to Clear Acne on the Chest
Pimples or red acne-related bumps on the chest can be an embarrassing occurrence for sufferers. While many associate chest acne with teenagers, people of all ages can experience chest acne. Several different factors cause chest acne, including hormones and trapped sweat or dirt in the chest pores, which can occur when a person is exercising or in cases of extreme heat. In order to clear then prevent future breakouts, you must keep bacteria out of the sebaceous glands that can cause pimples, whiteheads, blackheads or pustules. By taking extra time to keep chest pores clear, you can successfully fend off chest acne.
Bathe after every exercise session where you sweat heavily or after you have been outside during the summer. Built-up sweat can clog the pores and cause breakouts, therefore it's important to wash with soap and water. Using a washcloth or loofah to further exfoliate the skin also is a good way to clear the pores.
Avoid using any heavy creams or lotions on the chest, particularly during warm-weather months. These creams can clog the pores and inhibit the skin from "breathing" sufficiently.
Utilize a body acne treatment cleanser or cream in order to further unclog pores. Look for one with salicylic acid, which clears the pores. Using a treatment specialized for chest and body acne also ensures the solution is not overly drying, which can cause skin irritation.
Wash your clothes each time after use as your clothes can become entrapped with body oils, lotions or chemicals. You may wish to use a clothing wash for sensitive skin as some chemicals found in detergents can cause irritation and further breakouts.
Use a charcoal or mud mask on a weekly basis to further deep-clean the skin. This helps to penetrate the skin and rid the pores of dirt and debris. Be sure to test the product on a portion of the skin first in order to ensure that it is non-irritating.
Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothing, as the clothing can trap in perspiration and oils that lead to acne development.
