How to Clear Acne Internally and Naturally

Overview

The link between diet and acne development is debated by dermatologists, nutritionists and in scientific literature. While scientists are unable to conclude that a poor diet causes acne, they agree that it can significantly aid acne's development. Some types of acne are hormonal, and facial or bodily acne flairs due to unbalanced and fluctuating hormonal changes.

Step 1

Cut saturated fats, processed and fried foods from your diet. Saturated fats are found in animal products, such as meats, cheeses and butter, and in processed foods. Oily and greasy foods can contribute to over-active sebum glands, and excess sebum causes oily skin and more breakouts on the face and the body. While you should cut out oily foods, you should not cut out good fats and oils, such as olive oil, fish, avocado and nuts, all which contain omega oils that nourish the skin.

Step 2

Satisfy your cravings for sweet treats by eating fresh fruit, 100 percent fruit juices and dried fruits, and sweeten your desserts with agave nectar or honey. Avoid sugar and sugary drinks, snacks and processed foods. It is argued that excessive consumption of sugar can disrupt the hormonal balance of the body, aiding the development of hormonal acne.

Step 3

Drink green tea. Everydiet.org states that green tea helps decrease the production of excess androgens in the body. Androgens can disrupt the hormonal balance of the body and are linked to acne problems.

Step 4

Eat foods that are vitamin- and nutrient-rich, such as fruits and vegetables. Vitamin A and zinc in particular are considered potential treatments for acne. Vegetables, nuts and seeds, such as pumpkin seeds, are high in zinc. Vitamin A is found is most red, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables.
