How to Clean Clogged Pores How to Clean Clogged Pores

Overview

When the pores become clogged with oils, dead skin cells, sebum and bacteria, it can result in acne breakouts. To prevent these skin eruptions from occurring, it is necessary to clean the pores by flushing blockages out of the pores, drawing out impurities with a natural clay, and balancing out the rate at which the skin is sloughed off. By following a routine that incorporates these pore-cleaning methods, you can reduce and diminish acne blemishes and blackheads.

Step 1

Apply a castor oil mask to loosen blockages inside the pores and allow them to flush out more easily. Spread 2 tbsp. of castor oil onto the skin, coating the skin in a thick layer. Allow the oil to remain on the skin for at least 15 minutes, then wipe off the oil with a washcloth.

Step 2

Use a tea tree oil clay mask to draw out any remaining impurities from the skin and kill off acne-causing bacteria inside the pores. In a small bowl, combine 1 tbsp. of French green clay and 2 drops of tea tree oil. Spread the mask onto your skin, and allow it to dry completely, which takes around five minutes. Rinse off the mask with warm water.

Step 3

Apply a salicylic acid gel to balance out the rate at which skin cells are sloughed away. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of salicylic acid gel onto your fingers, and spread it gently onto your skin. Use your fingers to spread the gel around your skin until it has been absorbed into the skin.
