How to Clean a Microdermabrasion Machine
A microdermabrasion machine exfoliates surface skin to remove dead cells and embedded dirt. The styles of machines vary, but most come with an application wand attached to a tube that delivers specialized crystals used to scrub the skin. A vacuum hose that feeds into a disposable collection container removes crystals and exfoliated skin. Cleaning this system between uses is important in order to ward off the spread of disease and infection. Cleaning takes just a few minutes if done correctly.
Unplug the machine from the wall outlet.
Spray a clean cloth with an antibacterial cleaner and wipe down the base of the machine, covering the entire surface area.
Remove the vacuum hose from the unit. Most hoses will unscrew, but the removal method will depend on the model. If need be, refer to the manufacturer's guidelines.
Use the cleaning brush to scrub out each end of the hose. If your unit does not have cleaning accessories, use a soft-bristled brush such as a toothbrush. Wipe the outside of the hose with the cloth and antibacterial cleaner. Wipe the rim of the hose with an alcohol wipe.
Disconnect the applicator hose and wands. Scrub the end of the hose with a small brush or toothbrush, then wipe down the outside. Use the same method as with the vacuum hose.
Replace the wand with a new one if using disposable units. If not, wipe the wand with alcohol wipes.
Install new containers, both collection and crystal, then discard the used ones. Containers must be disposable.
Wipe the front display and control panel with an alcohol wipe.
