How Do You Get Rid of Pimples?
Acne is a disease that affects oil glands in the skin, according to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. Understanding how acne forms can help you get rid of pimples. The oil glands in the skin are connected to pores through small canals called follicles and produce an oily substance called sebum. Through the follicles, the sebum that's produced carries dead skin cells to the skin surface. Thin hairs also grow out of the follicle to the skin surface. Pimples form when the follicles become clogged.
Use a skin cleanser to wash the skin in the morning and in the evening. Also cleanse the skin after exercise that produced perspiration. This helps to prevent the follicles from becoming clogged.
Keep your hands away from your face and areas of the skin that are affected by acne. Squeezing and prodding pimples can cause scars.
Use caution when shaving and try different shaving methods, including both electric and safety razors. Use whichever method works best with your acne.
Wash areas of the skin that will be shaved with soap and warm water. Apply shaving cream when shaving to soften the hairs.
See a physician, who may prescribe an over-the counter treatment for your acne or a prescription medicine. Some medications are topical, and others come in the form of oral treatments.
