How Do You Get Rid of Pimples and Blackheads Fast?
According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), there is no overnight or immediate cure for breakouts. Treatment for pimples and blackheads can average four to eight weeks. To find relief as quickly as possible, stick with a daily skin regimen that limits the amount of oil and dead skin cells that can clog the pores. If your breakouts are severe, make an appointment with a dermatologist to discuss more aggressive options.
Wash your face. Use a mild cleanser twice a day and lukewarm water to remove oil and debris from the surface of the skin. Pat the area dry gently with a towel.
Extract blackheads. If you have blackheads, they can be removed with a blackhead extractor. This stainless-steel tool is positioned over the blackhead. When gently depressed, the blackhead is pushed out of the skin. Remove debris with a clean tissue after extraction.
Dab on an acne product. Apply an over-the-counter (OTC) topical solution to the pimples and acne-affected areas of the skin. Choose a version with either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient. Use the topical treatment twice a day to get rid of pimples and blackheads quickly. If an OTC solution is not effective, a dermatologist can prescribe a topical retinoid for acne treatment.
Use a sunscreen. Topical acne solutions can cause sun sensitivity. Avoid further irritation by protecting the skin with a sunscreen that has a sun protection factor of 30 or higher when outdoors.
Take oral medications to treat acne. According to AAD, combination therapies can be used to get rid of breakouts. Along with topical treatment, oral antibiotics can be administered by a doctor to get rid of acne quickly.
