Home Remedy for Removing Blackheads From the Face & Neck
Blackheads are darkened ducts clogged with dead cells, oil and bacteria that open to the surface of the skin. When exposed to air, the material inside the ducts oxidize and turn the familiar black color. Blackheads are a common symptom of acne, a skin disorder that affects more than 17 million people in the United States, according to Brown University Health Education. Many times, home remedies can help remove blackheads from the face and neck. Consult your doctor or dermatologist, however, if the problem becomes severe.
Add 2 tbps. milk to a small saucepan. Place over low heat for three to five minutes, or until warmed through but not quite boiling. Do not bring to a boil at any time, or you may scald the milk.
Add the gelatin to the warm milk. Stir vigorously with a wire whisk until the gelatin is completely dissolved and the mixture begins to thicken slightly.
Remove the pan from the heat, and set the mixture aside. Allow the liquid to cool to room temperature, which usually takes about 20 to 25 minutes.
Dip a cotton ball in the milk and gelatin mixture, and apply a thin layer directly to the face and neck. Allow the mixture to remain for at least 30 minutes, or until dry.
Peel off the gelatin mask. In her book "The World's Best-Kept Beauty Secrets," Diane Irons explains that when you peel off the mask, you'll also peel off the blackheads that were embedded in the pores. This remedy works similarly to expensive blackhead and pore strips.
