Home Remedy for Pimple Under the Skin
A pimple under the skin, commonly referred as a closed comedone or a whitehead, results when sebum, or oil, clogs a pore, according to the University of Washington. Whiteheads usually start out as small, round bumps underneath your skin, which become painful if the microscopic opening remains clogged with hardened oil. Home remedies to soften the skin and encourage the sebum to rise to the surface can relieve the pain and drain the pimple.
Fill a medium-sized pot half-full with water. Bring the water to a boil on your stovetop.
Shut the burner off after the water boils. Drape a clean towel over your head. Position your face approximately 12 inches above the steam exuding from the pot of boiling water.
Allow the steam to soften your skin for approximately six to eight minutes. Step away from the steam and pat your face down with the towel.
Press the skin around the under the skin pimple gently with a clean cotton swab. Light pressure from the cotton swab is often enough to extract the trapped sebum.
Repeat the steaming process the following day if sebum remains trapped under the skin. Once again, lightly press the skin around the closed comedone with the clean cotton swab, extracting the sebum.
