Overview

Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne and the most painful. The cysts are formed by oil blocking pores at the base of the hair follicle which are infected by bacteria. They tend to spread and grow beneath the surface of the skin. When the skin is healed, there is usually a pit or scarring left behind. To prevent spreading you must not pick or squeeze any breakouts, avoid being rough with your skin and use a cream that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. You should also avoid letting anything oily to touch your skin. Use only creams that are non-comedogenic.

Step 1

Plug your sink then add five to six drops of tea tree oil in. Turn on the hot water to create steam. Fill the sink only a few inches and bring your face no closer than four inches from the water. Steam your face for a minute to allow the pores of your skin to open up.

Step 2

Empty the sink and run warm water. Wash your skin with a very mild soap and use your fingers only to gently scrub. Rinse off using cool water. Splash several times with cold water.

Step 3

Dry your skin by patting it versus rubbing to prevent any irritation. Follow the directions on your medicated cream and apply over the entire area avoiding the sensitive skin around your eyes. Allow the cream to dry before applying any makeup.
