Home Remedy for Acne Spots
Overview
According to the Mayo Clinic, acne is caused by an overproduction of sebum, or oil, in the hair follicles of the skin. The follicles become plugged when the oil and dead skin cells form together, resulting in the formation of a soft plug. This soft plug can form as a whitehead, blackhead or pimple. Many factors, such as bacteria, heredity, and hormones, can cause the increased production of oil.
If you are considering natural remedies, it is important to consult your physician about possible treatments.
Step 1
Boil one cup of water in a small pot. Add 1/2 cup of plain oatmeal.
Step 2
Stir 1/4 cup of honey into the mixture while it is still warm. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Remove the pot from the stove top once the oatmeal is done cooking. Scoop it into a bowl.
Step 4
Wait for the oatmeal and honey to cool.
Step 5
Apply the mixture to each acne spot and let it remain on your face for 10 to 20 minutes.
Step 6
Rinse off the oatmeal and honey with warm water, lightly drying your face with a wash cloth. The oatmeal absorbs oil and helps exfoliate the skin, while the honey acts as a toner.
