Home Remedies for Getting Rid of Pores With Acne

Home Remedies for Getting Rid of Pores With Acne

Moderate to severe acne is a condition that should be treated by a dermatologist. However, if you experience mild acne or sporadic breakouts, you may want to try less expensive remedies first. Many potential remedies for large pores and acne may already be in your kitchen.

Egg Whites

Excess oil production is one of the leading causes of acne because it mixes with dead skin cells and forms tiny plugs in the pores. If you have particularly oily skin, an egg white mask will help eliminate excess oil. Egg whites are also effective at tightening the skin which reduces pore size. Use this remedy by separating the egg white from the yolk. Wash your face with a mild cleanser and gently spread the egg white across your face using clean hands or a cotton ball. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. You will feel the mask tightening as it dries. Rinse your face with warm water. Reapply the egg white mask a few times a week or as desired for tighter, cleaner feeling skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Use apple cider vinegar to reduce acne-causing bacteria and to balance the pH level of your skin. It also acts as a mild toner or astringent and helps clear excess oil and pore-clogging debris from the skin. Mix three or four parts water to one part apple cider vinegar. Apply it with a cotton swab directly on blemishes as a spot treatment or use a cotton puff to apply it to your entire face. If you have mild acne or sensitive skin, rinse the solution off after about 10 minutes. For more stubborn acne, leave the solution on overnight and remove with your regular cleanser in the morning.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice contains powerful antioxidants that provide benefits for your skin, particularly if your skin is prone to blemishes and inflammation. The astringent properties of lemon juice will help unclog your pores and reduce pore size. Citric acid also acts as an antimicrobial, reducing the bacteria on your skin. Wash your face with a mild cleanser. Squeeze a bit of fresh lemon juice into a bowl and use a cotton swab to test it on a small area of skin. Straight lemon juice may sting your skin slightly and may need to be diluted with water. After testing your skin and, if necessary, diluting the juice, use a cotton ball to spread the solution over the acne-prone areas of your skin or over your entire face if desired. Allow the juice to dry on your skin overnight. However, if you experience particularly bothersome stinging or tingling even with diluted lemon juice, rinse your face after 10 minutes.
