Acne can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, neck, chest and back. When acne occurs on the back, it can be difficult to reach in order to apply acne-fighting treatments or products, and it can be hard to know which products will clear back acne efficiently. There are a few methods that can help you eliminate back acne quickly.

Back Scratcher

A back scratcher can be utilized to allow you to reach the areas of the back that are difficult to reach with the hands. To use a back scratcher for back acne, a washcloth can be attached to the end of the back scratcher with a rubber band or a hair tie, then coated in an acne treatment product, such as a cleanser, benzoyl peroxide cream, antiseptic toner or acne-fighting mask. Once the product has been applied to the skin, the washcloth can be removed and laundered.

Body Cleasner for Sensitive Skin

Back acne can cause the skin to become more sensitive and inflamed than normal, so it is important to use a body cleanser or soap that is formulated for sensitive skin. A sensitive skin cleanser will be free of irritating chemical ingredients that could exacerbate back acne, such as mineral oil, sodium lauryl sulfate, or artificial perfumes. When using a body cleanser for sensitive skin, it is important to avoid rubbing or scrubbing the skin, which can further irritation and inflammation on the skin. A light, gently cleansing is all that is required to properly clean the back. The back should be cleansed twice a day.

2.5 Percent Benzoyl Peroxide Cream

Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most common and most effective acne treatment products available, and can be purchased in many different strengths. When applying benzoyl peroxide to large areas of the back, it is important to only use the lowest strength benzoyl peroxide cream, which is 2.5 percent concentration. Using a higher strength benzoyl peroxide cream can cause side effects such as redness, peeling, burning and itching. These higher strength creams should be avoided, as they can exacerbate acne breakouts. A quarter-sized amount should be spread over the back, thoroughly covering the areas effected by acne breakouts. Avoid rubbing the cream into the back, which can irritate the skin. Benzoyl peroxide cream should be applied to the back area twice a day.
