Home Remedies for Acne Stains
As if acne weren't bad enough, sometimes blemishes can leave behind red marks that look like stains on your face. While not scars, these stains can last for several months, even up to a year, making your skin look less than perfect, even after you eliminate your acne. You can banish these stains for good, however, though it'll take concocting a few clever home remedies to do the trick.
Vitamin C
Using a source of vitamin C on the face is a good way to bleach the skin and encourage the sloughing off of dead skin cells. The faster the rate of skin cell turnover is, the faster acne stains will fade away. A good source of vitamin C is lemon juice, which can be wiped over the face with a cotton pad, then rinsed after a few minutes.
Olive Oil
Apply an oil to the skin to soothe inflammation and reduce redness. You'll need to use an oil that won't clog your pores, like olive oil or jojoba oil. Simply use your fingertips to massage a pea-sized amount of oil into your skin. Let sit for several minutes before using a mild cleanser to wash off the oil. The extra moisture will speed healing and cut down on the irritated look of your skin.
Rosehip Oil
Rosehip oil is unique to the vegetable oil family because it contains retinol--a type of vitamin A--which is very beneficial to the skin. Applying rosehip oil to your skin every day will speed up the rate of skin cell turnover and boost collagen production. Over time, this can make your skin look smoother and reduce the redness and inflammation so common after a breakout.
