For those looking for a more natural treatment, several home remedies can be used to get rid of your acne.
Thoroughly Cleanse Your Skin
Keeping your skin clean is one of your best defenses against acne breakouts and red skin. Use a mild cleanser every morning and night to remove excess oil, bacteria, dirt and dead skin to prevent blemishes from forming. Use your fingertips to gently massage the cleanser into your wet skin then rinse well with warm water. Maintain cleansing as a consistent routine for the best results.
Remove Makeup
Don't ever go to bed with makeup on. This will clog your pores and lead to more breakouts. Instead, wash off your makeup each evening to keep your pores open and to keep bacteria away from your skin. Use a mild makeup remover that's alcohol-free to prevent irritating your skin. When you can, skip the makeup to allow your skin to breathe and heal.
Tea Tree Oil
Use tea tree oil to remove dead skin, bacteria, dirt and oil. Just pour some oil onto a cotton pad and wipe all over your skin. According to the Mayo Clinic, using tea tree oil at home to treat your acne can be just as effective as standard over-the-counter remedies that contain benzoyl peroxide.
Zinc Supplement
Supplement with zinc to cut down on acne inflammation and to reduce the number of breakouts you experience. Take a supplement during the day with food. According to Medline Plus, an adequate dose falls between 60mg and 90mg a day.
