Great Ways to Get Rid of Acne

One of the worst things plagues in the teenage years is acne. Acne is a chronic skin condition which is characterized by the growth of pimples on the skin. While it may seem like a losing battle to try to combat the growth of acne, there are actually several things you can try to get rid of the pimples and keep your skin clear.

Hydration

One of the most important things you need to do to combat pimples is to make sure you stay hydrated. Water helps hydrate the skin and eliminate toxins which can build up, causing the pimples to occur. Make sure you wash your face several times a day with warm water. Warm water helps to open the pores and clear them out. You should also make a good attempt to get your recommended 64 ounces of water per day, which will keep the skin looking healthy. Finally, you should use a moisturizer containing salicylic acid, the compound in aspirin. This chemical helps combat the infections which cause the pimples.

Natural methods

Over the years, there have been all sorts of natural methods of treating acne. These methods are usually topical. For example, you may want to try a rub made of garlic on your face. Garlic has long been used in natural medicine for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. You might also wish to try honey, which is also an antimicrobial (as well as smelling better) and can help clear the skin of the bacteria which cause the pimples. A rub using toothpaste or oatmeal can help gently scrub the skin and protect it from the reoccurance of acne.

Stuff to avoid.

While you are combating acne, what you avoid is just as important as what you do to help combat it. Keep your caffeine intake to a minimum and avoid solutions which dry out your skin. Caffeine is dehydrating; dry skin can get more pimples that skin which is properly hydrated. If you wear makeup, keep it to a minimum as makeup will clog pores and hold the bacteria in the skin, causing the acne to get worse. Finally, if you have long hair, pull it back and keep your hands away from your face. Hair and fingers have oils which can contaminate your skin and trap bacteria and dirt.
