Acne, also called acne vulgaris, is a common skin condition in the U.S., according to the American Academy of Dermatology. It affects nearly 40 million to 50 million Americans every year. Anybody can suffer from acne, but it is mostly common in teenagers and young adults. Acne formation involves four key players, which include excess oil, inflammation, bacteria and clogged pores.

Soybeans

Soybeans contains high sources of zinc, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Zinc is an essential trace mineral found in mostly every cell in your body. However, high doses of zinc can have toxic effects. Zinc helps to repair tissues and prevents acne scarring. It helps control acne production by controlling the activity of your oil glands.

Carrots

Carrots contain vitamin A, which is essential for skin cell development. Vitamin A helps to keep the protective tissue of your skin firm and also prevents acne by reducing the production of sebum, a natural oil produced by your body that can be found on your face and scalp. Vitamin A also helps you deal with stress, which can result in acne formation on some individuals.

Whole Grains

Whole grains contain B vitamins. The B complex group of vitamins contains important vitamin for acne. Thiamine or vitamin B1 acts an antioxidant, helping to enhance blood circulation in skin cells and prevents acne formation. Pantothenic acid or vitamin B5 is responsible for helping to reduce stress, which again can result in acne for some people. Low amounts of pridoxine or vitamin B6, niacinamide or vitamin B3 and riboflavin or vitamin B2 may lead to acne formation.
