Acne facial cleansers are products used to treat and prevent breakouts. The cleansing product typically contains either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient. Benzoyl peroxide removes acne-causing bacteria while salicylic acid unclogs pores and promotes peeling. Choose an oil-free acne face wash to keep excess oil off the skin.

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Face Wash

This face wash eliminates oil on the face and unclogs pores using 2 percent salicylic acid. The medicine found in the face wash treats both pimples and blackheads. It does not contain any irritating ingredients and does not dry the face, according to the manufacturer. You are instructed to use the wash twice a day for treatment of acne. To apply, wet the face and place a small amount of the cleanser on the hands. Add water to your hands and rub them together until you make a lather. Massage onto the face and rinse clear.

Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser

This cleanser removes makeup, oil and dirt on the face that could be causing your acne breakouts. It contains 10 percent benzoyl peroxide to get rid of bacteria that could lead to pimples. The product was awarded as one of the "Besties" by Seventeen Magazine in 2008. To apply, thoroughly wet the face. Use your fingertips to work the cleansing cream over the entire area of the face. Continue to massage for approximately 30 seconds. Rinse completely off the skin and pat it dry. Repeat use twice a day.

OXY Face Wash for Acne Treatment

This fragrance-free cleanser is specially formulated for individuals with sensitive skin. Besides treating acne, it attempts to soothe redness and irritation caused by breakouts. Besides 5 percent benzoyl peroxide, the wash contains citric acid, sodium citrate and urea. Twice a day, wet the face and work a small amount of the treatment product into a lather in your hands. Massage onto the skin and rinse off any residue. Reduce application to once a day if dryness and irritation occur.
