Overview

Everyday Minerals is a popular and affordable mineral makeup line. Products are not available in stores, but may be purchased at EverydayMinerals.com. Mineral makeup is especially popular for delicate, sensitive or acne prone skin. If you are looking for a foundation that can cover acne, hide scarring and discoloration, and keep your skin healthy, Everyday Minerals may be a good choice for you.

Significance

Mineral makeup, like Everyday Minerals, is created by combining a variety of natural minerals, including titanium, mica, iron oxides and zinc oxide to form a fine powder that is buffed into the skin with a soft brush. Concealers, blushes, bronzers and finishing powders are available along with foundation for your acne prone skin.

Types

Available in four different foundation formulations, Everyday Minerals foundations can provide you with full coverage or a lighter and sheerer look for your acne prone skin. The intensive formulation is ideal if you have substantial acne or need to cover scarring, but you may wish to use a concealer powder as well for better coverage. Matte foundation provides slightly less coverage with a smooth, matte appearance, while semi-matte allows for a bit of a natual glow. Choose the original glo formulation for a less matte look.

Function

Everyday Minerals is ideal for sensitive skin, as it will not clog your pores. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are soothing and have anti-inflammatory properties, according to WebMD. Mineral makeup, including Everyday Minerals, may be a bit drying due to the natural effects of the minerals; however, this is often beneficial for acne prone skin. If you have dry patches or combination skin, a light non-greasy moisturizer applied prior to Everyday Minerals may create a more even appearance.

Features

Everyday Minerals foundations are available in all four formulations in a wide range of shades. Foundation shades are classified as warm, golden, beige, cool, buff or olive in shades from quite light to very deep. Inexpensive samples are available to help you choose the shade and formulation that best covers your acne. You can also purchase empty jars to mix your own foundation, combining two shades or different foundation types to achieve the one that is best for your skin.

Warning

While Everyday Minerals products are quite gentle and avoid irritants found in many brands of mineral makeup, like bismuth oxide and parabens, some people may still find the products irritating. Everyday Minerals suggests that you patch test their products before using. Apply a small amount of product to the inside of your arm and wait 48 hours. Wash away the makeup and discontinue if you note any reaction.
