The Safe Cosmetics Organization reports that the U.S Food and Drug Administration does not have the authority to review or regulate what goes into cosmetics before marketing them to consumers. Additionally, 89 percent of all ingredients lack evaluation for safety by any publicly accountable institution. The presence of harsh chemicals, additives and preservatives clog the pores and irritate the skin. By opting to use certain natural ingredients, you can have effective deep pore treatments without damaging your skin.

Deep Cleansing Scrubber

Contrary to common belief, pimples and blemishes are not caused by dirt but excessive oil production in the sebaceous glands, according to the Acne Resource Organization. Washing your face twice daily with a mild cleanser may rid of surface impurities, but deep pore cleansing requires a coarser application to remove buildup and thoroughly cleanse the skin.

For a deep clean, combine 1/2 cup of cornmeal with 2 tablespoons of natural plain yogurt. Mix the ingredients thoroughly in a bowl until they form a paste. Apply liberally to the neck and face, avoiding the eyes, in an upward motion, to lift and remove dead skin and impurities. Continue for five minutes and rinse with warm water.

Facial Pore Steaming

Topical pore cleaning treatments rarely penetrate the pore. Facial steaming opens pores, making it easy to drain and wash away imbedded bacteria and oil. This method is effective for all skin types and helps to reduce inflammation and dullness associated with acne.

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add 16 drops of essential oil, such as thyme or lavender, which are naturally antibacterial and fragrant. Place the pot on a table and place your head close to the steam. Wrap a towel or other thick fabric around your head and the pot to trap the steam. Let your face steam for no longer than five minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water to wash away impurities. Follow with your regular skin cleanser.

Deep Pore Cleansing Mask

Deep pore cleansing masks help to penetrate the pore and remove imbedded impurities to clarify the skin. Natural deep pore mask treatments help to eliminate toxins without using chemicals or other harsh ingredients.

In a blender, add 1/2 cup of Dead Sea mud, 2 drops of carrot seed essential oil and 2 drops of sandalwood essential oil. Blend the ingredients thoroughly and store in a glass container. Apply the mask to the entire face and neck and let dry for no more than 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water to wash away accumulated impurities, followed by cold water to close the pore.
